If you are the typical woman your mind probably went directly to your mid-section, your thighs or some other part of your body that you are dissatisfied with.
As women, many of us spend so much of our time and energy focused on improving our outward appearance and physical bodies as though it holds the secret to some hidden happiness and fulfillment in life.
We are deceived by the lie that being a certain weight will fix all our problems, give us purpose, or make us more lovable. We obsess over diet and exercise only to find ourselves stuck in a never ending cycle of yo-yo dieting that ultimately leads to despair and frustration.
The truth is behavior modifications will only take you so far.
If you want to see lasting change, you have to start on the inside. You have to start with what occupies your thinking and fills your heart.
When I say, “Where do you have a tendency to carry your weight?” I want to challenge your thinking and what you value most in your heart.
What do I mean? How much weight do you put into the idea that your outward appearance and body weight are going to bring you joy and fulfillment in life, verses putting more weight in what God says about you and in His great and precious promises, He lays out in His Word, for you and for your life?
Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying to no longer care about your physical appearance. I am simply challenging you to look at what is driving our actions.
Why do you do what you do, when it comes to eating and exercise? What are you placing your hope in?
