Here we are quickly approaching the end of February already! Let me ask you, “How are you doing with that healthier lifestyle you determined to make happen this year?” You know the one you started just last month, where you said you were going to make better food choices and stick with your exercise plan this time? Well, how is it going? Are you still progressing forward, or have you already given up, frustrated that once again that you find yourself having to start over?”
If you are still going strong, making progress with your health in the new year, that is awesome! Keep up the great work and encourage others around you. If you find yourself back to the same bad habits, beating yourself up and frustrated, then let me encourage you to take the time to pause before attempting to start over. Here is the thing, if you want to stop dragging your past into future and make this time different than last time, it’s going to take some work from the INSIDE.
I believe that true health begins on the inside, with what fills your heart and occupies your thinking. When the inside is healthy it will reflect on the outside. The world however, is so focused on appearances and performance it is no wonder that we seldom give thought to looking inward, and we wonder why we struggle so much to keep our bodies fit and healthy, when emotionally, mentally and spiritually we are starving, weak and even sick.
If you are someone who struggles with having to start over again and again when it comes to making healthy changes to your lifestyle, give yourself the gift of taking the time to stop and look inward and examine your heart and your thinking. Here is a scary thought. We always act in alignment with our beliefs, not what we say we believe, but what we TRULY believe in our hearts. Don’t fall into the trap either of assuming that experience guarantees a better future. Haven’t you proved this to be false already by the fact that you keep having to start over. EVALUATED experience however, can be a game changer. Evaluation takes time and a willingness to be honest with yourself and about what you find when you look at what really fills your heart and occupies your thinking.
If you are thinking, “I don’t have time to do that, my life is too busy” How much time have you already wasted by being no further along then maybe a few months ago, or a year ago, or maybe even 5 years ago. Time is actually your friend when you use it wisely. God tells us in His word that we should number our days ( Psalms 90:12 ) When we do we realize how short our lives really are and we can ask for wisdom to prioritize our time according to what is truly important and has eternal value.
Are you tired of saying that you want to get healthy and lose some weight only to find yourself quickly giving up and back to old habits? Maybe you are afraid to even start because you believe you will only fail again. Maybe you’re just stuck and nothing seems to be working to move you forward. Let me invite you to follow us over the next several weeks as we share ways to help you move forward into a healthier lifestyle, starting from the inside, out.
Let this time be different!
