It has to be a lifestyle change!
Diets just don’t work. For change to happen we need to make a shift in our lifestyle. New habits need to be incorporated into our lives and hard-wired into our brains if we want to succeed in reaching our goals with lasting results. This takes time. It doesn’t just happen overnight. It is a whole new mindset. For example, a diet mindset says, “I will eat a certain way until I reach my goal and then I can stop.” A healthy lifestyle mindset says, “I chose to eat this way from now on because it supports a healthier life and allows me to have the energy I need to live a life I love.”
Every time you succeed at applying these new lifestyle changes, you are supporting your commitment to your health and reinforcing to yourself that your health is important. Over time these changes will become habits that will help you reach your goals for your health and life.
The road to change is often long, bumpy and loaded with detours that often get us off track, but your willingness to keep getting up and getting back on the right road will slowly begin to build your confidence and create momentum for the journey. Take it one day at a time, one step at a time. Lay one brick at a time if you must. If you are only willing to do the right thing over and over again, before you know it you will be well on your way to the healthier lifestyle you desire.
Keep your focus on TODAY and only TODAY! Tomorrow has enough worries and troubles of its own. Habits are powerful, but they take consistency and focus to create and stick. Learn from the times you get off track. There is always something valuable we can learn when we fall that can help us later in the journey. Don’t get caught up with perfection, just be committed to keep getting up and moving forward. Celebrate the fact that you got back up and SIMPLY RESUME.
